SIGNATURE OF A PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE NATIONAL EMPLOYMENT FUND AND NACHTIGAL HYDRO POWER COMPANY

On April 27th 2018, the General Manager of the National Employment Fund and the General Manager of Nachtigal Hydro Power Company have signed, in the presence of the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training’s representative, a partnership agreement that aims at promoting employment for the residents of the communes located in the Nachtigal project’s area.
This approach is part of a comprehensive support system for the populations impacted by the Nachtigal hydroelectric project, and is a component of the management of the environmental and social aspects of the project.
About 1500 direct jobs will be created during the peak construction phase of the project, which will last more or less 5 years, and two-thirds of the said jobs will be attributed to people living within a 35kms radius from the project site. Several tens of jobs will also be created during the operation phase.
Within the framework of this partnership agreement, the National Employment Fund will disseminate information related to the recruitment, and identify the applicants through regular registration offices in the concerned communes, and in accordance with the best international practices.
